Fleeting

Iris hookeri.   Delicate iris flowers are often short-lived.   The transience can be part of their magic.  This one, the last of a batch I raised from seed a couple of years ago that's  still in a pot, caught my eye on a brief visit to the greenhouse today.

Mostly we've been cleaning at the bungalow and meeting neighbours who are all very friendly although Megs encounter with a local cat led to her running all the way back to the flat!

My day started with a very special gift from my Mum which I have reproduced as an extra pic.  She shared these two pages from her teenage diary on FB this morning.  A reminder that our short-lived inconvenience does not match the hardships another generation endured almost a lifetime ago.
