There are a lot of oak trees on my local walks, this one's canopy shades a stile, and this year is the first time that I've noticed oak flowers. I suppose that I've never walked so much on my own, and so there's more opportunity for looking instead of chatting.

While eating lunch in the garden, although it was much too hot really - the weather not my lunch - a bird of prey suddenly landed on the fence, shifted a bit and then took off. A lovely surprise and, having looked it up, I'm guessing a kestrel.
