22:07. Was ready to post this a couple of hours ago, instead became engrossed in a Saudi film ‘Wadjda’ (the first feature film to have been shot entirely in Saudi Arabia – and by a female director). A story revolving round a girl’s desire to own a bike, and offerings a fascinating insight Into the woman’s place in Saudi.

I came across it on ‘Arte’, a Franco-German free-to-air television network which offers a range of cultural programs (films, documentaries etc) with audio and subtitles in French and German.

We didn’t go out. As foreseen, we were told the beach was packed, and the promenade overrun with cyclists. Those 2 walks we had may well have to do for a while. Infuriating though, the government didn’t have the balls to enforce the lockdown properly from the beginning, and all the mixed messages. Understand It was the same story in London and Brighton, and no doubt elsewhere.

Back to today’s blip. The week’s sustenance arrived at 08:30. All ‘disinfected’ and the washed fruit & veg put on the balcony to dry. I check with Mr B a few days before if there’s anything we need - standard response “we don’t need anything”. Then of course he criticises me when we’re out of his eggs or milk etc. Thinks that entitles me to tag this for Admirer’s Silly Saturday.
