Here and Now

Cooper's Hawk - 2

In the ravine today at the cemetery.  A young CH was eating something on a branch and intermittently calling out.  This adult arrived and after the young ate a bit more, moved in and gobbled away. The young one flew off.  Here you can see a bloody morsel in its beak, and a tag on its right leg if you look closely.  Rather than a typical shot, I wanted to see the fluffy underbelly feathers.  It hunts for mourning doves, jays, and starlings during breeding season.

Have a good start to your week!
