Mother’s Day

Well, here they are: living proof. Note the Jets face masks. We had a little visit in the backyard, distanced and masked. It was the most contact with the most actual people I’ve had in weeks.
The boys, father and son, didn’t talk much, but granddaughter was very articulate about this new world of ours, what it will mean for the upcoming generation. She, who was planning on being a PE teacher, wonders about the future of high school sports. Will there be any contact sports at all? How will everyone be tested? What would you feel safe with? Going to virtual school is no substitute for human contact, for learning how to work things out with your peers. Our high school may go to split sessions, meaning teachers get to teach the same class twice a day to a reduced number of students. It was interesting and sad and frightening to hear her perspective. She, like all of us, is trying to work out her place in this new world, and right now there are no answers.
