Day 51 The speech

Today the weather was feeling grumpy. It was cold and grey with occasional rain. For most of the day I stayed indoors but when we went for our walk, I certainly felt the cold and Chris did too in his shorts. I spotted these 2 hanging about on a wall with no regard whatsoever for social distancing and I bet he was freezing in his mankini!
I worked a little bit today, uploading the work onto our portal for the children to do at home. I also went on the exercise bike, cooked a pork dinner, finished my book (Half a world away - highly recommended but you'll need tissues), had a video chat with Dad and Matt, did some ironing and watched Boris's speech.
Boris has said that those who can't work from home should try and return to work but not to use public transport. He's said that some children will return to school on 1st June (Years 1, 6 and reception as well as some preparing for exams). From Wednesday we can exercise more and go to parks to sunbathe but we must still keep socially distancing and all of this could be reversed if the number of infections starts to rise again. Hospitality industries will not be able to restart until at the earliest 1st July, depending on how we are doing with this phase of the lockdown. He's going to provide further clarity this week which is good as there's lots of confusion on social media about what we can and can't do.
In the news, daily deaths were at their lowest rate for a long time as 269 died. My stepson had some sad news as one of his friends who he hadn't heard from in a while has died.
