Beautiful And Contrasting

Very cold and windy but thankfully bright. We spotted a pregnant muntjac like a little brown barrel and surprised Reynard in number thirteen.

I spotted this cinnabar moth on asparagus in number three greenhouse. I like that its colours match the asparagus beetles. It gets the name from the similarity of its red colouration to a toxic red form of mercury sulphide. The moths and their larvae, which live on ragwort and assimilate their poisonous alkaloids, are themselves are unpalatable, other than to cuckoos.

I shot the green veined white butterfly on sheep's parsley.
