Sole Survivor

We have two rather magnificent Magnolia trees in the garden. The "regular" tree is currently covered in glorious, cup-shaped pink and white flowers. The other is a Magnolia stellata which is usually also covered in white star-shaped flowers but was discovered this winter by the resident squirrels during the long, cold and snowy winter. This flower came from the single bud they managed to miss as they browsed for snacks.
