Goldfinch

Today's the day .....................…. for a liquid twitter

That's how the song of a goldfinch is described in my bird book - and it's actually very accurate.

For such a little bird, goldfinches pack a big punch. They are strikingly beautiful examples of the finch family with their scarlet faces set in a black and white head. In fact they look almost tropical in appearance as if they should be in warmer climes. They have a very distinctive flight too - as the book says - undulating and dancing - and while they're flying, they're usually doing the liquid twitter at the same time.

This one on the cherry tree didn't seem to be in a rush to go anywhere.  It was up there surveying all below, for a good five minutes.  Perhaps it's on lockdown as well ………………………..
