Foliage abstract

For today's optional Abstract Thursday challenge of 'foliage'. Don't forget to tag your entries with AT255, so that I can find them all during the weekend.

We were woken up at 04:30 am this morning by son no 1, sending us the reply he had received from the Dutch Embassy. It's incredibly sad and disappointing. Some civil servant at Schiphol has decided on their own without any further investigation that Dick and Fumiko's relation cannot be seen as a stable relation because according to them it's only been going on for less than 6 months (news to all of us, they've been together since May 2019 !) and neither is there a humanitarian reason to let a couple expecting a child in September travel and stay together. After all travel restrictions may change before September , there are no pregnancy complications and she still can stay in Singapore until July 1...

I'm beyond speechless. Have written a very long email to the Dutch Ambassador but won't know if it really reaches her, nor do I know if she can do anything about it. Immigration lawyers can't do anything until they are actually in the country. The situation is really completely insane. Article 8 of the European Convention of Human Rights gives everyone a right to a family life !
