A Full Basket

I was looking for a blip in my garden this afternoon when I spotted this bee (white tailed bumblebee?) with two very full pollen baskets on its hind legs. I went to the plant nursery for when it opened at 8 this morning, but it doesn't fully open until tomorrow so I could only get three bags of peat free compost. A lovely Houseparty catch up with two of my sisters this afternoon, then a Sainsbury's delivery (I so hate washing groceries with hot soapy water before putting them away!)

Day 60 / Day 52 of Lockdown / Day 2 of Step 1 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 428 to 33,614, Italy up 262 to 31,368, Spain up 217 to 27,3321. Global deaths now exceed 300,000.

Estimated cost of CV crisis in UK is £123.3bn. There has been accelerated maintenance of road and rail during lockdown. £2bn pledged for upgrading roads and railways (unsure if separate from the £2bn announced last week to support cyclists & pedestrians). A quarter of CV deaths in hospital in England were in people with diabetes. A&E visits are the lowest on record in England. Per a small pilot study, 0.27% of the community (excl health & care workers) had the virus between 27/4 & 10/5, that's 1 in 370. Scientists want urgent research into whether mouthwash can reduce the spread of Covid-19. London Transport granted £1.6bn in emergency funding to keep buses and the Tube running until Sept (£0.5bn being a loan). Excellent news that Public Health England has approved an antibody test which is said to be 100% accurate, this would test if you've had the virus and aid planning for coming out of lockdown.
