Shelduck

An early morning visit to a local disused quarry nature reserve.

Surprised to see this group of Shelduck high on the quarry face. These and several more which had flown off as we approached had presumably been using this as a safe roosting place. An extra gives a better idea of how high up they were.
Not a place for nests however. I believe the normally build their nests in old rabbit warrens.

At 07.45 walking here under a blue sky was a fine way to start the day.
