Lady’s Slipper Orchid

A week ago I blipped the only Lady’s Slipper Orchid which grows wild in this country.

Now I can show the first Slipper Orchid which grows in our garden. These are American hybrids and are stronger and more vigorous than our native species. They do very well on a north facing slope in fairly shallow limestone soil.

This particular one is Cyprepedium gisela.

In the next month I hope to blip some of the others.
