Likin' the lichen

The lichen on the stone steps I blipped on 13th May attracted some interest, so here's a different, fluffy kind on a tree.

The path I often take runs through the edge of a wood, alongside open farmland. It fair catches the weather. Today it was icy winds gusting to 40mph. I've noticed that the lichen on tree trunks is deep orange, on the side facing outwards; and green like this on the sheltered side.

Whether different types of lichen are generally that weather sensitive I don't know. I tried getting a decent photo but nothing was specially exciting. So here's an example I captured a while ago.
