Greens are good for us

That's what I was told from a very early age. "Eat another sprout by the time I count to five or ..."  Anyway I love my sprouts, spinach and so forth now. But that's not why we're here.

I heard on the radio this morning (* see note) that we need greens about us because they cheer us up, help us relax, make us mindful, even. Who knew? It'll come as a total shock to us blippers, won't it? I mean, given what we post day in, day out?

So, now, here are some greens for us. In the main shot, the grandfather tree, the old wizard of the wood who goes walking at night when we aren't looking, leaves breaking out around the gnarled old branches. In the extra, a carpet of celandines beside the path, due to flower any day.

What else are we mindfully aware of? Rustling branches in a gentle wind. Whatever the radio said about branches liking to be at an angle of 17 degrees (to what, the vertical, the horizontal, other branches?), they are at any old angle in here.  Bluebells still not out, no matter whether they are down your way. Bird songs, many different, though lots are probably the same thrush ... managing to compete against the all pervading roar of construction work across the Firth.

* Note: that radio programme. I avoid the BBC as a rule because its editorial policy is as independent as Soviet News Agency Tass used to be. But Radio Scotland's Out of Doors, every Saturday between 6am and 8am is not to be missed. Very rural, very Scottish, often whimsical and sometimes mad. Blippers elsewhere can download it as a podcast. Recommended.
