Avocado Rustlers: Best in Large View

Many people think southern California is just giant cities like LA,
San Diego, & Santa Barbara, merging with smaller towns into a giant megalopolis, along the Pacific Coast. There are many areas that are densely urban, but our county, north of LA, has lots of open space, along with lots of farms & orchards.  Agriculture is a big business here.

We took a ride off the beaten path, near the Pacific Ocean & it seemed we were transported to Farm Belt, but the big crops are strawberries, celery, tomatoes, raspberries & peppers. We thought we saw a field of broccoli, too.   On the steep slopes are orchards growing lemons, avocados & Valencia oranges.

We stopped at  a farm stand & bought strawberries, oranges & sweet bell peppers.  The cashier told me they deliver boxes of produce every week, which might be a good option.  Everything looked very good.

On the way home, we saw this derelict barn, surrounded by plowed fields, without a soul in sight.  It obviously has an interesting past & story to tell,
maybe involving "The Relentless Pursuit of Avocado Rustlers."   (Google it)
