Shades of Grey

We had Steeplejacks working on the Mackintosh Church today. Even though it was raining I had to go up the Tower to inspect some work on the roof.

I took a few shots from the top of the Tower looking across the City. I like this one looking towards Park Circus in the distance. It reminds me of the album cover 'Raintown' by Deacon Blue. Rarely is the classic Raintown album spoken about without the artwork getting a mention. The bleak yet beautiful cover shot, a stroke of genius, perfectly encapsulates the mood and feel of the album.

The photograph was taken by Oscar Marzaroli, admired by the band, his work was used on a number of other Deacon Blue records such as Loaded & Chocolate Girl and in later years Walking Back Home and Love Hurts. He also photographed the band before his death in 1988.

Park Circus on a better day.
