Crepe paper?

Flower Friday: Poppies

Its alway seemed to me, that with their crepe paper petals, poppies like this are almost joke flowers.  You know, the sort of thing that the art teacher would show you how to make in primary school, with a green cane, some red crepe paper and an old cotton reel bobbin. They have been blown about a fair bit in today's wind, but the crepe petals seem to be glued on well :-)

Photographing these flowers is much more difficult than it appears.  If you leave the exposure to the camera's automatic system they generally come out over exposed.  I find that under exposing by at least a couple of stops is essential.

Not much to report for today.  I visited the local post box to post a letter, while being careful to socially distance, although it seems pretty clear that not everyone can be bothered to follow those rules now.  There are certainly a lot more people out and about.

I've also made the week's supply of wholemeal rolls, fortunately we now seem to be able to get hold of wholemeal bread flower.  Perhaps one side effect of the relaxing of lockdown slightly is that fewer people are now making their own bread, or rather, stopped panic buying dry goods ...
