Between fen and mountains

The empty house

This house on the high street has been empty for a while after the departure of its owner.  The paint is peeling and the windows rotting but the flowers are taking over and providing a pretty display.  After the Zoom service and catch up, I went for a walk around the circuit and had a chat with Tony on his smallholding. It seems now that if I go to France to sort out the house, quarantine will be required on our arrival and on our return. The good news is that there is only one hospitalisation in the whole department at present. I am finding the control of the virus in this country quite depressing, mixed messages and today the government defending the indefensible.  I read an article about the approach in Kerala where I hope to return next year. A proactive and systematic approach has meant only four deaths in a population of 35 million even though they have a large migrant population working abroad which had to return to the state.
