Crème Brûlée

Probably from the first time we went to France, a long time ago, Gordon has always liked crème brûlée, which is surprising really as he is generally not that keen on what he calls 'sloppy stuff' such as custard, yoghurt etc. But crème brûlée seemed to be different. When we are in France he will always choose it if is on the menu and takes time to rate one against the other.

I have always thought it was one of those really tricky things to make and until recently had not even tried. We always had a blowtorch as we used to buy ready made crème brûlée from M&S. Then a while back I decided to have a go, followed Mary Berry's recipe and it worked. And it has worked ever since. A glorious dessert and so simple to make . . . when you know how!

Just about to go to the Hay  Festival and watch Natalie Haynes - should be good.
