Christmas Tree Coal Tits

I have been so impressed by how hard the blue tit parents work to keep their young fed and clean at the two nests I've been photographing. Today I heard cheeping and thought that maybe the 'bloo' tit chicks had fledged. I was mistaken. It was a fledgling coal tit in the Christmas tree calling incessantly for food. Its parent is looking bedraggled just like the adult blue tits.

I saw my first thick-thighed flower beetle of the season the day before yesterday and they're everywhere today. I got a shot of my first speckled bush cricket nymph of 2020 this afternoon. (Extras)
