Lucky us!

Well kind of lucky as within minutes of taking this the mist came down and an hour later heavy rain came along with a thunderstorm, but most of our excursion was in the morning when the weather was fine.

We went up to the Blue mountains and here we are at the base of the Jamieson Valley which is half rainforest, created by the huge cliffs that form the canyon sides and the other half is Eucalyptus forest the oil from which hangs in the air making the mountains appear blue.

Having descended in a cable car we walked through the forest bottom and were told if we listened carefully we may hear a Lyre bird. We had it's song pointed out to us but were told we would be very lucky to see one. On our return this one was spotted foraging amongst leaf litter of the forest floor. It is a male bird and I snapped it as quick as I could using flash in case I missed it! So pleased to have seen it even though we had been to a place earlier where there were Koalas and Kangaroos and lots of other Australian fauna.

Sorry no time for links we are on a 30 minute free Wifi slot in Starbucks!
