Yesterday's On This Day In History entry marked the release of the cultural phenomenon known as Star Wars. On this day in history in 1897 another cultural phenomenon was set loose upon the world when Bram Stoker's Dracula was first published. 

True to the nature of the undead, vampires still stalk the Earth and their hypnotic charm continues to enthrall us. But it is the aristocrat of blood who still reigns supreme, and Bela Lugosi remains the seminal Count Dracula.

Undead, undead, undead, undead.
