Salad days

Early start and a good chunk of work done before lunch. Then the day disintegrated somewhat.

Having expressed an interest in going to our local garden centre (we needed more hen food), Mr B kindly offered to drive me there in case it is true that I have forgotten how to drive...

So we purchased mightily (herbs, flowers) then did the same at the supermarket - the one where they sell boxes of nearly expired veg for one euro (4 bags of spinach, 5 lettuces and some peppers and tomatoes). Then we stopped for petrol.

Seasoned readers will know where this is going.

The car wouldn’t start. We pushed it out of the petrol pump space, and waited for an hour in the burning hot sun for the dépanneur. He quickly diagnosed a duff battery “there’s a lot of it about” and got the car started.

The garage put the clever battery tester on, and regrettably diagnosed a duff alternator.

So some car shuffling to get our spare car there and decant the shopping and, once again, we are temporarily a one car family.

More work once we were finally home, then barbecue dinner with a very fine spinach salad courtesy of TallGirl.
