Looking back

The grading for our walk today was severe, then strenuous and comprised 2,408 feet of ascent and 12 miles. The severe element was the very steep steps which were a tad difficult for my little legs. The book time was 5.5 hours and it took us 6.75. Luckily the second part from Branscombe to Seaton was a lot easier than the first part from Sidmouth to Branscombe which involved several deep valleys. One of my husband’s knees was suffering by the end but he is still game for the next section. We used both our cars as buses are on a Sunday service which would not be reliable and we are happier sticking to our own transport at the moment. The weather was glorious but we will take one of our larger rucksacks next time as our small ones were uncomfortable for the distance involved. I did my supermarket shop on the way home, no queuing at 5.30pm.
