It’s in the bag !

When we gave up our allotment and moved our stuff onto our pen , as it’s called round here , we had high hopes of what we would do with our piece of land . 
However, our  lives have been so packed full of other things that  for  a long time  it’s taken a back seat and been allowed to run wild . With more time on our hands we are pulling it into shape but the soil is very poor so it’s going to be a challenge to make it productive . 
The photo was taken to show the potatoes growing in bags , an ingenious way of growing crops in arid areas . The idea is that you place the seed potatoes near the bottom , cover with a bit of soil and then continue to cover up any growth , they are shooting up incredibly quickly and have reached the top of the bag in just over a week. The other bags are a few weeks behind. At the moment we are growing in containers and a couple of raised beds trying to make as much compost as we can to enrich the soil . It’s a start , who knows where it will lead .
