The Weir

Groundhog Day 65 of COVID-19 UK lockdown.

A very beautiful hot sunny day, we cycled from Tongwynlais, nr Caerphilly, South Wales (UK) to Penarth where we spent an hour chatting to my dad. We continued the journey over Cardiff Bay barrage (busy) through a deserted Cardiff City Centre to return to our start.

The Taff trail was extremely busy with people walking, cycling, swimming, picnicing and enjoying the day. I do sense these last couple of days the atmosphere has really changed towards the 'stay home' message and people want a return to normality.

The blipfoto was taken at Taff Weir near Radyr, on the outskirts of Cardiff where a woman was sat on a stone outcrop enjoying the sound of water coming over the weir as childen played nearby. It was here we bumped into a former colleague and his young son who were also cycling to Cardiff Bay, and enjoyed a catch up. He has eight years to retirement.

This weeks Wide Wednesday theme hosted by RockArea is 'looking down' and The Weir scene fits in.
