The Little Flower

I have a few nice things in my garden.  This little marble nun is “The Little Flower of Jesus”, St Therese of Lisieux.  I regret that I don’t know who sculpted it but it was commissioned by John McCormack, Count of the Holy Roman Church, an Irish tenor, who gave it to the Notre Dame Order.

My mother remarried after my father died, and my step-father had three sisters who were Notre Dame nuns.  One was the Sister Superior of a convent that was being redeveloped.  She needed a safe resting place for this sculpture until it had a new home. I am very happy to look after it and hope it is a long time before it leaves.
