Castle Hill Dam

Another hot sunny day from sunrise. The land in this image is just below the small dam at Castle Hill. It is generally very wet, hence the bullrushes and buttercups. The water of the small reservoir attracts a lot of birdlife throughout the year, especially in Spring and Autumn when migrant geese congregate. There are too few wild neglected areas so I always enjoy passing to see of there are any extras surprises. None this morning.
There was not a castle on the site and the only possible reference is to an iron age fort some distance away but it has to be known as something.
