Hopper at the Grand Palais

I took this shot leaving the Hopper exhibition early this evening. It had been sold out for many weeks but was extended for a few days through 3 February and at that point we just managed to reserve tickets for today. From today through the 3rd the show is open literally around the clock, so these lines may be there all night :) That was also the case with the Monet exhibition two years ago, when I took this midnight blip.

Edward Hopper (1882-1967) is perhaps the best-known American painter of the last century. There have been shows of his works in the last two or three decades in the U.S. but I don't think any of them have been as comprehensive as this one--it was truly wonderful--and obviously amazingly popular with the French. Even the 8:00 news tonight (France 2) had a brief piece on the long hours!
