Bird Gymnastics

He'll have a stiff neck tonight! Later in the day I was watching the fledglings on presumably one of their first outings, given the slightly pot luck nature of their landings! Another very hot and sunny day today, too hot to do much.

Day 77 / Day 69 of Lockdown / Day 19 of Step 1 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 113 to 38,489 (beware lower no's on Sun & Mon). A slightly concerning plateauing of new cases. Testing capacity reported as reaching the end May target of 200k a day. Still lots of concerns over the fitness for purpose of the new contact tracing system. Deaths in Brazil rise by nearly 1,000 in one day, bringing their total to nearly 29k and their total cases to over half a million.

The briefing focused on the change in advice to the 2.2M shielded who from tomorrow will be able to go out for a walk with their household or someone from another household who socially distances. Over half the shielded are under 70. Over 350k have sought some form of Govt support. The homeless were found shelter during lockdown and now 6,000 new homes will be made available for rough sleepers, over half in the next 12 months. Lots of pictures of crowds in the sun in parks and beaches this weekend, apparently breaching Govt instructions on group gatherings and social distancing. I think it should be stressed again that staying alert includes limiting your contact with other people, even if from tomorrow that can be 5 other people outside if socially distance.
