Human Intervention

There is an Amelanchier bush in the back garden which keeps on giving all year round - blossom, berries, coloured leaves and twigs. At the moment it is bursting with juicy red berries which the birds love. Two wood pigeons swoop in and settle on it for a feast but I clap my hands and shoo them away. Because I am saving it for Mr Blackbird who flaps in and loads up with about seven berries before taking off back to his nest. Here he is at 6.30 this morning coming in for breakfast.

So I am intervening in nature by protecting the berries for Blackie when I probably should be letting nature take its course and allowing the pigeons to strip the lot. Would Chris Packham be displeased with me?
