Street Cleaning

I was at the mercado this morning for my thrice weekly bolillo fix, when I happened upon this mass of workers cleaning the street in the back. One big water truck, one guy with a hose, and a half dozen women with brooms equals clean streets. As we have seen so many times here in Mexico, many of the tasks that would be done by one specialized machine in the United States is accomplished by sheer people power down here. Labor is cheap (relatively) and equipment is expensive (not to mention the upkeep of said machines), so people are what allow the country function.
