10,000 steps

She hadn’t particularly wanted a FitBit. Wasn’t interested in fitness. But was a bit disappointed at how far short she fell of the recommended 10,000 steps a day. So, for the first time in her life, she started going for a walk as an end in itself rather than as a means to some other aim. At the end of the first week, she was hitting the magic number. At the weekend, she had a longer walk and achieved 12,000 steps. If 10,000 was good, 12,000 was better, surely?

After a month, she was on 30,000 steps – taking a late night walk if she was still short.

And she was wondering about 60,000.
