Sgwarnog: In the Field

Brown

Today's work day walk had me going down to Tong Park in search of a Common Blue butterfly which someone had spotted there yesterday. No luck, but I did get this, my first Meadow Bown of the year, although it did take careful stalking to determine that I wasn't seeing my first Ringlet. There were Large Skipper, Small Heath, Speckled Wood and Small White in the vicinity, and still plenty of Chimney Sweeper moths.

I stuck to the grassy areas as down by the Dam the sun worshippers had gathered in strength. It seems to have been adopted as the local beach simulacrum, with all that entails.
