Visitor, Walk, Garden, Heat

As we laid our plans this morning we didn't know there was another visitor headed this way.  Just as we were getting ready to go out Anders arrived on his cycle. He is a serious cyclist (unlike us) and since the weather was warm he was thirsty and hot! He refilled his water bottle, rinsed himself off and we sat outside for a miniature rehash of yesterday. Two sorts of bread, two sorts of scones, and strong coffee. As always it was fun to chat and we sat there a couple of hours before Anders rode on his way.
This meant it was even warmer when we did set out for our walk. I'm fairly good in the heat  but Jan suffered a little so we went slowly, took rests and drank lots of water.
We crossed the small stream that flows out from "our" lake and I was first attracted by the marsh marigolds(?) growing in the sun, and then by the contrast between the sunny side of the stream and the shadowed side with the dark water; a wilderness in miniature. The extras show how different a sky can be, depending on where you look. The first extra, with the road and some threatening thunderclouds, is looking NW. The second extra, looking NE, shows a gentle summer sky with low cumulus. Taken from the same spot at the same time!  (We heard thunder but it stayed away from us!)
Once home we did a little gardening, set up the hammocks better, and lay in the hammocks for a half-hour. It was really too hot to work.  Dinner outside and then in for the evening as the bugs were starting to emerge.
Another lovely day!
