Day 73 'Back to school' kind of...

A very different school awaited the small amount of children that we welcomed back today. I had 9. Some only had 3 and the largest classes had 12. We have some spaces but not many and a small group of Year 1s are starting next week. There was lots of social distancing and hand washing. The children had a desk each instead of sitting on top of one another and a pot with their own resources. We also seemed to have lots of breaks, great when it's sunny but I'm not sure about wet play... We were all split up in our bubbles which felt very odd. I had to keep checking my timetable to see when it was my turn on half of the field or in the lunch hall. Some children started at 8.30, others at 8.50 and the last lot at 9.10. Home time was also staggered. To welcome the children back and to help ease their anxiety, we had 3 giant T-Rexes walking around on the playground (as you do!) and to top it all off there was an impromptu fire drill after the caretaker set it off by mistake with his leaf blower. It all felt a bit surreal.
After school we went for a walk but a decent blip eluded me so you get this instead.
In the news, there's been a lot of unrest in America after the dreadful death of George Floyd who was killed after a policeman knelt on his neck for 8 minutes. Shocking.
Hundreds of people queued for hours when IKEA stores re-opened. What?!!
