In one side - and out the other

I laughed when l saw this tree whilst out for the daily constitutional. I wondered how it could still be alive but seems to be thriving.
Most of the country experienced rain yesterday and here in London we were hopeful but a few spits, not enough to turn the windscreen wipers on for so still watering the allotment, temperature dropped by about 10°.
