A Touch of Freedom

My eldest went to the park today with her best friend, who lives two doors away from us. It was the first time my daughter has socialised face-to-face with a peer in 10 weeks.

After much deliberation & careful planning between myself & said best friend’s mother, it was agreed that the girls would be allowed to take a packed lunch & some money for the ice cream van.

It felt momentous as she planned her outfit & got her bag packed (the park is a 3 minute walk from home). There was something truly wonderful about seeing her able to indulge in a slice of freedom & enjoy some long-awaited ‘normality’.

My eldest can be a little infuriating at times but on the whole, has been completely accepting of these unprecedented circumstances, showing perseverance, maturity & being able to adapt accordingly.

On her return, she was absolutely glowing! I probably need to tell her more often, how proud she makes me feel.
