8 geese visited the Community Garden this evening.  They were hatched in an incubator and have totally fixated on their owner and get to travel around, taking walks in different parks.  However dogs are a problem so being able to spend time in our garden where there are no dogs is much safer.  They went into both ponds, a first time for them. They were not sure about it for a while but soon found they could wash themselves and put their heads under the water.  Afterwards they were given a shower using one of our garden sprinklers to remove the mud and then they spent some time drying off in the sun preening. We are assured they will be returning - perhaps they will start looking for slugs and grubs but mainly today they were keen on our grass.  They will never be able to be left alone overnight though  - the vixen and 4 cubs are still in residence!
