Roadie

New Mexico state bird
From Wikipedia:
The roadrunners, also known as chaparral birds or chaparral cocks, are two species of fast-running ground cuckoos with long tails and crests. They are found in the southwestern and south-central United States and Mexico, usually in the desert.

These birds are normally spotted running quickly from cover to cover. This one, spotted in the bosque, popped up on the post as I rode by on my bike.  I spoke very softly to her, assuring her I meant no harm, while I slowly extracted my camera from my backpack.
