The Old Forge (Sunday 7th June 2020)

There are all kinds of wildflowers that are rampant in the Woodland Garden and the driveway verges - dandelions, hawkweed, borage, love-in-a-mist, St John's wort, lords and ladies, fox and cubs, aquilegia, dead nettle, red valerian, speedwell and alkanet to name a few - but perhaps the commonest are herb-robert geraniums and herb bennet.

I've been meaning to photograph the herb-robert for some time and have pulled some of it up, but I think I may have missed the precise moment when the most flowers were fully open at the same time, despite a few attempts. I couldn't get the composition I wanted, of a few flowers growing against a spare roof tile in the front yard, so instead I used a macro setting on a telephoto lens to hone in on one flower.

The colour rendition of the flower isn't especially accurate although I have made partial correction in post treatment.

With thanks to Miranda1008 for hosting Wild Flower Week.

Intrigued by this piece when it came on the radio in the small hours. It is the title track of the album.
