Another photo from Shoebury and what used to be an old garrison but is now fancy and expensive housing, although there are still a fair few old army buildings/emplacements along the sea wall looking out over the Thames Estuary. The M.O.D. still owns and uses a load of land in that area. This, apparently, is part of a "World War II Quick Fire Battery" according to Google Maps.

Yes, I know Em looks a wee bit unhappy and the reason for that was that the plant in front of her had a fine bunch of aphid eggs, or something similar, on it and she found them not to her liking so, I assume, put on a fantastic display of sadness for the camera (ahem!). In keeping with the location I'm glad to say she's a real trooper and managed not to get eaten alive... honest! :))
