Mistle thrush

We went for a walk on Oswestry Racecourse and lanes this morning.  It ended up being twice as long as we had planned but was a lovely walk.  We saw our first small heath butterfly of the year and a young jay.

The highlight was watching a mistle thrush collecting grubs from an ant's nest then flying to some old sheds with the haul then returning to the same spot and gathering another beakful for the youngsters.  Luckily for me it flew onto a fence before going to the nest.
