Tiny chillis

Many of what we think of as vegetables are, botanically speaking, fruits. Vegetables, botanically speaking, are roots, leaves or stems of plants. Trisharooni's post of a Brussels sprout is therefore a vegetable. A fruit is a seed bearing structure which forms from the ovary of a flower. Therefore, botanically speaking, tomatoes, eggplants, zucchinis, capsicums and even chillis are really fruits. Practically and cullinarilly speaking, we think of these so called fruits as veggies because they are not sweet, as we expect our fruits to be.

Getting back to the photo, only last week the chilli plant had a flower as well as red and green chillis. I was hoping to do a photo with all three. But alas, today the flower had lost its petals and was forming a new chilli.

Thanks for hosting Trisharooni. Please don't disqualify me for posting a pic of a faux veg. Stay well all.
