Day 85 A Visit to Connaught Water

Today was another of sunshine and warmth and we decided that it was time to visit Connaught Water.  We have avoided this place previously during the lockdown as the car park has been full to overflowing and there have been so many people walking around.  We though that with an earlyish start and it being the first day of the reopening of non essential shops, we'd be able to park.  Not so! Fortunately there is parking available just over half a mile away.  From there would could take a pleasant walk through yet more of Epping Forest and cross just one road to reach our destination.
Sadly, as last year, the lack of rain is beginning to take its toll and the water did look quite scummy and dirty.  At least here it wasn't the litter of humans as has been left at another popular forest spot on several occasions now.  It was good to be out and about though and armed with my proper camera, I did get a number of shots, hence the collage.  I'm not sure what the mother coot was doing to her young one.  I've heard that they 'tousle 'young chicks when food is short, but this one was not so young.
At lunchtime we picked up Violet from school and this afternoon Mr MC went off to play golf, whilst I did the childcare assisted by Daughter #1.
This evening we watched the second of three episodes of a dramatisation of  The Salisbury Poisonings, a public health crisis very different from the current one but yet with some parallels.
