A Day Worth Recording

Tales of Distant Lans

The WiFi coverage within this monster of a 1820's house has always been a bit on the edge, even with extenders and especially at the far end of the former servant's wing.

As part of some recent rewiring we had the electrician take out the unnecessary overhead cable to the garage and the adjacent converted stables and replace it with an ethernet cable; thinking I'd install a wireless Access Point there.  On one of those accidental browses through Youtube I happened across someone explaining the conversion of an old router to an access point.

Remarkably trivial, as it happens (and I'd two routers in the undelivered charity piles).  Worked first time with more signal and at twice the speed of the extenders.  That'll be a win then.

For info: The video I found.  Clear, simple, but definitely not concise.
