They Know His Name

Running by the canal this morning, I kept coming across graffiti of Jesus’s name. I think this was the fourth one I saw.

Lord, there are so many people in the world who are longing for you. Even creation cries out in groans. We may not admit this longing, even to ourselves. But somewhere deep within each of us, is it not still there? The world you made cannot erase or forget who you are.

I wonder what this person thinks when they hear your name, Jesus. I wonder did they think of you, when they wrote it.

On FaceTime tonight with Dad, and he shared this from “Divine Conspiracy” by Dallas Willard:
“God is known fully only by himself, because an infinite mind can only be fully comprehended by itself.
From his infinite wisdom, He cannot err or be deceived, and from his infinite goodness, can do nothing but what is eternally just, and right, and kind.”

God, you are known fully only by yourself. But thank you that you still chose and are choosing to make yourself known to us. You cannot be deceived as to your own identity. But we humans can be, and we have been. Would you remind your creation once more of the truth about who you are?

Gratefuls:

1. Catch-ups and FaceTimes with people I love - Jill, Alex and my family back home. Especially seeing my best friend grow in confidence, in who God made her to be.
2. This book by John Swinton, “Dementia, Living in the Memories of God”. For the author’s incredible wisdom and gentleness, truth and sensitivity.
3. A lovely walk in Regent’s Park with my sister.
4. The opportunity to talk about Jesus with a street artist named Stephen by the canal. His openness in asking questions, and desire to find the truth.
5. Hannah buying us dessert - simply out of the kindness of her heart!
6. Getting fresh veg at the market - I love the feel of that place. So many different cultures and languages - the diversity is something I’ll miss in Belfast!
6. Getting to experiment with Rebekah’s spice rack while cooking dinner. Then sitting down to eat it, the 3 of us together.
7. Hearing that 2 girls are coming to socially distanced view Rebekah’s flat tomorrow - an answer to prayer!
