Canal Loop

Off on the midsummer (almost) canal ride starting at 5 am this morning. Down the Lea into London. Through Islington and Paddington stopping for breakfast somewhere near the north circular road. Up the Grand Union to Watford and then cross country through woods and fields on tracks that I never knew existed, even though some were close to where I grew up.

Thanks to all for organising and planning the route. A particular mention to Derek for omitting to mention bringing sandwiches, but major gratitude to Andrew and John for giving part of their lunch to me. Also John for the scones which were so delicious they didnt need butter or jam. I got back at 4 pm - a long but very satisfying day.

Our coffee stop was at Jack's Mill at Harefield near Uxbridge. Marzia, seen here by the lock,  was charming and cheerful, serving coffees and cakes. Well worth a visit next time you are over that way
