Sally Mair - Loving life

Say cheese!

How can it be Wednesday again? Went out to Hopetoun this morning to pick up some compost and some canes to support the beans. Got straight in without queuing which was good.
Back home I set out to make a simple version of a demi glace sauce only to find that the beef stock I had gone specially to the butcher to buy yesterday was in fact beef gravy... a quick phone call to the butcher and a drive to Stockbridge for a replacement. I've never made one before and this was a simplified version, but it looks good, well see tomorrow when we eat it!
A was coming over after her day's work today so I made some cheese scones, always a good excuse to bake. They were rather yummy if I do say so. We had a nice visit with her, then after finishing a couple of loads of washing we headed off round to their house. The first time I've been there since March. After a quick run through the house without touching anything we spent a couple of hours in their garden. They may not have a kitchen but they have worked really hard getting the garden into shape. Lovely to sit and chat.
Back home for a late dinner and another day gone. A warm, and at times sunny, day which was very much enjoyed.
